Reminder:Animal Parade

Dear Parents,

Don't forget to come watch our Animal Parade tomorrow morning as we march around the entire school!! It's going to be wild!!!! Parents can be seated in the cafeteria/gym area. You will see everything from birds to lions :) Don't miss out on this adventure!



  

Field Trip Date Change

 Due to a conflict in dates with the Houston Zoo we have moved our field trip from Wednesday, March 28th to Monday, March 26th.  Please make sure that you send your child's $8 by this Friday so that we can purchase our tickets.  We will leave school at 8:30 and return by 5:00.  Make sure to arrange for your child to be picked up that afternoon when we return to school.  If you are planning to go along with us to the zoo please let Mrs. Macat or Mrs. Mouser know ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly.  Adult tickets are $13.  All students must ride the bus to the zoo but they may ride home with you.

5th Six Weeks

 We can't believe it is already the 5th Six Weeks!! The time is flying by so now it is more important than ever to make sure you are still helping your child with their homework. The STAAR test is quickly approaching! Here is a look at this week!

Wow!~ We can't believe it is already February!! This school year is flying by and your child is learning more and more each and every day. Here is what we are learning about in class this week!

Reading & Language Arts
Our story we are reading this week is Ramona and Her Father. We are discussing Problems and Solutions. In Languare Arts we are learning about Adverbs! If you click the link it will take you to a cool game!!

Social Studies
 This week we are reviewing Communication, Inventions, and Transportation over time and how they have changed. We will be sending home a review sheet to study for our upcoming test next Friday, February 10th.

Math & Science
In math we are practice Patterns and Number Sequences. This week we are also working on learning our 12 Multiplication Facts! Click the link for the some Multiplication Practice!

 In Science we are discussing Forces, Motion, and Work!

Navigating the Blog!

Parents,

We know that some of you may be computer guru's and some of you are just learning how to use it but either way we want to give you a few tips on where to find information on our classroom blog. Blogs can come in so many different colors, pages, and designs so we want to help you efficiently use ours.

Each week the blog is updated with a variety of helpful information for you and here is how to find it.

When you first open our blog you are on the home screen which is where you are reading this post. There is also a "home" tab at the top left that will always bring you back to this page as well.

The second tab News and Upcoming Events will link you to another page on our blog that will give you information about holidays, school events, meetings, etc...

The third tab Homework will link you to the page that provides what homework assignments are for the week and when they are due.

The fourth tab Quizzes and Tests will link you to the page that provides information on upcoming quizzes and tests, benchmark dates, etc...

The fifth tab Helpful Links takes you to a page that will provide information on how to get to our school library page, computer lab page, and will soon be getting more helpful links for your child to access from home.

I'm going to have to taste what?

What do you get when 44 kids do a matter taste test??? A bunch of funny faces that is for sure!!! In science we have been learning about matter and how we can observe its physical properties using our 5 senses. We have completed a sound lab, smell lab, and today a taste lab. I must say I think the taste lab was by far both classes favorite! There were 15 different items to taste and the students had to describe whether the item was sweet, sour, bitter, or salty. I couldn't help but laugh the entire class at the variety of faces I saw as I walked around the room to each group!! There faces were priceless! Here...you can see for yourself LOL

 

New Updates

Parents,

We know that several of you have been checking the blog and it has not be updated. We are very sorry for that. Before Christmas break things were a little crazy at school and we never got around to doing it. However...you can hold us to our word this time...we are making a New Year's Resolution to update the blog each week if not more than once a week with picture of activities that are happening in the classroom. We appreciate everything that you do for your child and for us as well. Thank you!!
